Do your neighbor a favor

Do your neighbor a favor.
Collect their morning paper
And clip out all the sad bits, no one wants to read that.
Let them take their kids to school and the zoo in peace.

Other tips
  • Reduce the amount of things you carry in your pocket:
    • Call all stores with whom you have discount cards. Give them your phone number. Now toss the cards or at least put them in a file and out of your wallet.
  • Create uniformity
    • Use only one type/color of post-it, pen, and pencil at work, home, and travel. I used to like the fun colors, but this way provides uniformity and prevents you from adding a meaning to the random colored post-its you have laying around. Instead pick a cool color scheme and stick with it. Like all gray post-its and all baby blue file folders or something or another. I used to use all the crappy cheap pens I would get at work, but choosing your own pen and using on a regular basis feels great. And you co-workers won't steal your stuff as much mistaking it for their own.
    • Make all file folders align either left or right and align the labels all to the left (not centered). Again provides uniformity. Got this from another blog. Can't remember where.

Finding dead track in iTunes library

Do you keep your music on an external hard drive? Have you ever started up iTunes with it disconnected, just get the dead track exclamation point all over your library ("!")

Well here's the solution, just quit iTunes and re-open with the external hard drive connected. iTunes will rescan library and resurrect dead tracks .

I didn't really grasp it at the time, but the whole world we lived in was as fake as a Twinkie. Not just school, but the entire town. Why do people move to suburbia? To have kids! So no wonder it seemed boring and sterile. The whole place was a giant nursery, an artificial town created explicitly for the purpose of breeding children.

Where I grew up, it felt as if there was nowhere to go, and nothing to do. This was no accident. Suburbs are deliberately designed to exclude the outside world, because it contains things that could endanger children.

Everybodies been wondering where you've been.
And now that we know what happened,
we're all wondering where you are.
And eventhough we feel bad
when we don't see you around any more,
we want you to know we'll feel better
when we don't have to worry anymore.

worrying about you.

My favorite song of all time

Intro
[CL Smooth]
(I reminisce, I reminisce) x3
I reminisce, I reminisce
Uh! (I reminisce, I reminisce)
Yeah (I reminisce, I reminisce)
(I reminisce, I reminisce)
(I reminisce, I reminisce)

Verse 1
[CL Smooth]
I reminisce for a spell, or shall I say think back
Twenty-two years ago to keep it on track
The birth of a child on the 8th of October
A toast, but my granddaddy came sober
Countin' all the fingers and the toes
Now I suppose, you hope the little black boy grows, huh
Eighteen years younger than my momma
But I really got beatin's cos the girl loved drama
In single parenthood there I stood
By the time she was 21, had another one
This one's a girl, let's name her Pam
Same father as the first but you don't give a damn
Irresponsible, plain not thinking
Papa said chill but the brother keep winking
Still he won't down you or tear out your hide
On your side while the baby maker slide
But mama got wise to the game
The youngest of five kids, hon, here it is
After ten years without no spouse
Momma's gettin' married in the house, listen
Positive over negative for the woman and master
other queen's risin' a chapter
Deja vu, tell you what I'm gonna do
When they reminisce over you, my God
[Pete Rock]
My God. It's so... Yeah, so lovely. That's how we like to do it in the 90's. Pete Rock & CL Smooth comin' atcha...

Verse 2
[CL Smooth]
When I date back I recall a man off the family tree
My right hand Poppa Doc, I see
Took me from a boy to a man, so I always had a father
When my biological didn't bother
Takin' care of this, so who am I to bicker?
Not a bad ticker but I'm clockin' Pop's liver
But you can never say that his life is through
Five kids at 21, believe he got a right to
Here we go while I check the scene
With the Portugese lover at the age of 14
The same age, front page, no fuss
But I bet you all your dough, they live longer than us
Never been senile, that's where you're wrong
But give the man a taste and he's gone
Noddin' off, sleep to a jazz tune
I can hear his head bangin' on the wall in the next room
I get the pillow and hope I don't wake him
For this man do cuss, hear it all in verbatim
Telling me how to raise my boy unless he's takin' over
I said, "Pop, maybe when you're older"
We laughed all night about the hookers at the party
My old man standing, yelling good God almighty
Use your condom, take sips of the brew
When they reminisce over you, for real
[Pete Rock]
For real, baby. Like that. We for real. Comin' atcha...in '92. Pete Rock & CL Smooth. Yeah, c'mon, hit me!

Verse 3
[CL Smooth]
I reminisce so you never forget this
The days of way back, so many bear witness the fitness
Take the first letter out of each word in this joint
Listen close as I prove my point
T to the R-uh-O-Y, how did you and I meet?
In front of Big Lou's, fighting in the street
But only you saw what took many time to see
I dedicate this to you for believin' in me
Rain or shine, yes in any weather
My grandmom Pam holds the family together
My Uncle Doc's the greatest, better yet, the latest
If we're talking 'bout a car, Uncle Sterling got the latest
I strive to be live cos I got no choice
And run my own business like my Aunt Joyce
So Pete Rock hit me, nuff respect due
When they reminisce over you, listen.

Outro
[Pete Rock]
Listen, just listen to the funky song as I rock on. And that's word is bond. I'm not playin'. Everybody, just coolin'. This song we dedicate to the one and only, never be another, he was my brother: Trouble T-Roy. It's like that y'all, and ya don't stop. Pete Rock and CL Smooth for '92 And we out. Later.
